Upon graduating from Law School, Markay went to work with the Harris County District Attorney’s office where, for over 16 years, she forged relationships with both judges and prosecutors. Markay distinguished herself at the D.A.’s office prosecuting all types of criminal cases including murder, sexual assault, robbery and drug related offenses.
She went on to become the first female chief of the Financial Crime Division responsible for the investigation and prosecution of Securities Fraud, Investment Fraud, and Mortgage Fraud.

Markay is one of only a few attorneys in the state with experience in the actual investigation of criminal cases. This experience allows her to identify the mistakes made by the Government in their investigation of your case and to maximize the impact those mistakes will have. Markay can anticipate the strategy and tactics utilized by the government and, with that knowledge, can better prepare and defend your case.
Educating Communities Through Speaking Engagements
Markay has been a guest speaker at numerous organizations and events across the state, including the Texas District and County Attorneys Association on white collar fraud, the Houston Police Department Academy, and the Texas Department of Insurance. In addition, Markay has made numerous presentations to private organizations around the state in the areas of criminal law with an emphasis on white collar crime.
Shaping Criminal Law During Legislative Sessions
Extensive knowledge and experience in criminal law has made Markay a valued member of the State Bar. Her expertise has been sought during the Texas Legislative Sessions to help draft and review proposed criminal laws to ensure they comply with both the U.S. and Texas Constitutions. Markay is acknowledged as one of the most experienced attorneys in the State in the area of White Collar crime investigation and prosecution. This knowledge and experience is crucial in the representation of her clients.

As a former prosecutor, Markay understands the methods and strategies used by the government. She will aggressively and effectively use her prior work experience to prepare her client’s defense.
